After a seemingly successful local book launch of the new, revised edition of A Favor Returned on Sunday, I was feeling rather good. Then, I checked the Amazon rankings of both the paperback and e-book versions of the book. Some of the euphoria left over from the launch immediately drained away. Between the 9th and the 12th of July, the rankings in both categories fell by about 25%. However, the reviews have not yet come out and there are programs and presentations on the horizon, but, as the title of this blog suggests, Amazon rankings have a way of providing a resounding dose of humility. To those who have read the book, a visit to Amazon and a review or just a star rating might be helpful, or, perhaps being humbled is a good thing!

Don’t worry about the rankings, Duke. They will always rise and fall, not as meaningful as some like to believe. If you want a huge but temporary rise, try Kindle Select, offer a free download for a few days, promote the heck out of it. And you’ll get after-sales as well. Worked for me.
