It really not a new idea but I just tried it with Murder in a Small Town: The Tragic Death of Stacey Burns.

I extracted a section of the book, which, as you know, is non-fiction, and rewrote it using dialogue. Of course, making up dialogue changes everything as far as the book being non-fiction but being able to use dialogue as action and as a way to give the story momentum was interesting to say the least.  This rewrite is fiction and will go into my “possible future projects” folder.

Don’t forget, you folks in New Hampshire: Sunday afternoon, September 29, I will be explaining the how and the why of my attempt to write the book about the Stacey Burns murder case with the program, “Adventures of a True Crime Neophyte.” The presentation will be in Willing Workers Hall on 109 in Melvin Village, NH.
